Shane Ware: What Is A Photo? (Main Meeting Room)

Bio: Shane Ware is a cityscape and landscape photographer based in Austin, Texas. He has been practicing photography for the past seven (7) years with a prior focus on film production.

His current expertise is in capturing cinematic moments and scenes and further enhancing them through creative post-processing techniques.

Program Description: Shane's lecture will explore the intersection of photography, style, and digital art in today’s world. He will discuss the evolution of digital photography and post-processing and examine what the concept of photography still means in an age of social media, smartphones, Photoshop, and AI.

Through his images, this presentation will challenge you to think about the entire photography workflow when you're in the field before you even press the shutter.

It will equip you with editing and post-processing techniques to utilize in your images and hopefully get you to think outside the box to create a meaningful style.

It Was Lucky Thirteen For LaVerne Biser

105-year-old eclipse chaser catches 13th eclipse in North Texas

CBS NEWS Texas (Channel 11) recently featured 105-year-old Fort Worth eclipse chaser LaVerne Biser in a video about his plans to watch the total solar eclipse.

This was going to be his 13th eclipse since 1963, and the story quickly gained attention from various local, national, and international media outlets.

Mr. Biser, whose daughter is club member Carol Barlow, planned to observe the eclipse from her home in Plano since Fort Worth was just on the edge of the path of totality.

On eclipse day, Channel 11 visited him there to capture his experience of watching the eclipse.

Fortunately, the morning low cloud layer broke apart in time to allow Mr. Biser (and the rest of us in North Texas) to witness the celestial event.

     April President's Message

    Transitions
    Fallon Michael

Spring is a season of change, and it's no different for me and our Plano Photography Club.

As my time as president of this incredible club draws to a close, I want to pause and reflect on our shared journey.

Over the last two years, we've captured countless moments, exchanged invaluable knowledge, and, most importantly, nurtured a vibrant community dedicated to the art of photography.

A heartfelt thank you to each of you for your passion and commitment. Your creativity has inspired me, and together, we've delved into new techniques, explored diverse genres, and celebrated each other's achievements. Our club is a place where personal growth and friendship intersect.

While I'll soon be stepping down from my role, I'm confident the club is in exceptional hands. Continue to click those shutters, seek fresh perspectives, and uphold our spirit of mutual support.

Remember, photography extends beyond the images we capture; it's about the bonds and cherished memories that we create along the way.

Thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving as your president. I look forward to seeing the continued growth and success of our club.

“What I like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce.” — Karl Lagerfeld
